The Classification of Oxygen Sensor

I. According to the material of the oxygen sensor
     The oxygen sensor have two kinds, one is solid electrolyte bases on zirconia, and another is oxide semiconductor resistance change style (titanium), their operating principle is different because of their different materials and exporting styles. At present, most of the oxygen sensor in the market is zirconia oxygen sensors, because it has a long life span and is relatively steady.
zirconium dioxide (ZrO2)
     The performance characteristic of zirconium:
    Zirconia is solid electrolyte owns the ability of transfering oxygen ions, when the temperature reaches to 300℃, the zirconia can transfer oxygen ions, from the thick side to the thin side and then product the voltage.
    HanGong oxygen sensor is zirconium dioxide oxygen sensor.
titanium dioxide (TiO2)
    Operating principle: titanium dioxide oxygen sensor is resistance change style, so when the resistance of the titanium dioxide near the electrode changes, the oxygen sensor can measure the change of the atmosphere around.
    In the case of thick mixture, the resistance of the oxygen sensor decreases to less than 1000 ohm.
    In the case of thin mixture, the resistance of the oxygen sensor increases to more than 20000 ohm.
 
 
II. According to the structure
 Non-heating oxygen sensor (1line/ 2 lines):
     Heating by the afterheat of exhaust gas of the engine, it is always equipped near the exhaust manifold of the engine.
Heating oxygen sensor (3 lines/ 4 lines):
     There is a heater inside, and it can force the oxygen sensor to speed up its pre-heat by the system supply voltage, make it burn quickly and early to realize the close control of the system. It can be equipped far away from the exhaust manifold of the engine.
 
 
 
III. According to the function and mounted position
Control oxygen sensor:
It is known as fore oxygen, can single-handedly measure the density of the oxygen in the burning exhaust gas of the engine, and it can make voltage and feedback to ECU to reach the ideal gas air ratio status. It is equipped in the upstream location of the three - element catalytic converter.
Diagnose oxygen sensor:
It is known as back oxygen and equipped in the downstream of the three - element catalytic converter. Because of aging of the control oxygen sensor, the voltage curve it transferred to the ECU will skew. Diagnose oxygen sensor will measure the fore oxygen and three - element catalytic converter to make sure weather they are in the best working condition. Then, the ECU can calculate the compensation dosage to correct the deviation
